Dr. Vijay Kanawade is an atmospheric scientist who did his Master of Science in Physics (Fergusson College, Pune, 2002) and Master of Technology in Atmospheric Physics (Department of Atmospheric and Space Sciences, Savitribai Phule Pune University, 2004). Dr. Kanawade was awarded the prestigious Marie Curie Research Fellowship to pursue his doctoral studies on "Satellite remote sensing of carbon monoxide in the lowermost troposphere" from the University of Leicester, UK in 2010. Following this he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Kent State University, Ohio, USA (2010-2012), Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (2012-2014), and Lund University, Sweden (2015). Dr. Kanawade's research interests include aerosol microphysics (atmospheric new particle formation and growth), aerosol-radiation-cloud-climate interactions, satellite remote sensing of trace gases, and air pollution, with the process-level understanding of secondary aerosol formation is at the center of my research interests. Dr. Kanawade was conferred with the prestigious SERB Science and Technology Award for Research (SERB-STAR) for the year 2023.
